Ipswich school accused of having 30yearold pupil removes second child in Year

A school accused of having a 30-year-old pupil has removed a second child from class amid concerns about his age or welfare. The boy, who is in Year 7 and apparently aged 12, was removed from classes at Stoke High School in Ipswich just days after a Home Office investigation was launched into claims a 15-year-old Iranian pupil and asylum seeker was 30 years old.Immigration officials are trying to establish the actual age of the older boy from Year 11.A fellow pupil posted a photograph of him on social media in school uniform and with facial stubble asking: “How’s there a 30 year old man in our maths class?”–– ADVERTISEMENT ––It is understood the younger boy is not under investigation because it is accepted he is a child. However, he was either been removed from class for his own welfare or because it is believed he may be in the wrong year. It has been reported that the pair are brothers and at their home in the city.Asked about the younger brother, a school spokeswoman said: “A student in Year 7 is also not currently attending school.“We cannot comment further on individual cases but we have followed Government and local authority policies and guidance, as we do for any admissions matter. “We are continuing to liaise with the authorities on this. We have informed parents of the situation and will continue to keep them updated as we receive information.”A Home Office spokesperson said: “The Home Office does not routinely comment on individual cases. Where there are concerns that an individual may not be a minor as claimed, the Home Office’s policy is to ask social services to complete a full age assessment.” Want the best of The Telegraph direct to your email and WhatsApp?
