Hilda L. Solis, D-El Monte. Montebello resident Jeanne Garcia, a detective and supervisor in the Sexual Assault and Family Crimes division of the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, was honored along with San Gabriel resident Irene Mak, who is family law attorney serving domestic violence clients on a pro bono basis. Also recognized was Monrovia resident JoAn Viele Lyman who works with El Monte’s Casa de San Gabriel, a community center that educates high school students about domestic violence prevention. The ceremony at Solis’ office coincides with October’s designation of National End Domestic Violence Month.
