MCGUINNESS – “DUBLIN AND KERRY ARE GOING DOMINATE GAELIC FOOTBALL FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE”

first_imgGAA: Former Donegal manager Jim McGuinness reckons Dublin and Kerry could dominate Gaelic Football for the foreseeable future due to the vast resources both counties have at their disposal. The two sides face off in Sunday’s All-Ireland final and it has all the ingredients to be another classic encounter between two counties who enjoy a fabled history against each other. Dublin are going for their third All-Ireland in five years having won the title in 2011 and 2013, while Kerry are aiming to win back-to-back titles for the time since 2006 and 2007.While McGuinness is looking forward to the clash between the two counties he genuinely fears for the other counties who he says will find it too hard to make up the ground to challenge. In his weekly column with The Irish Times, McGuinness wrote, “The more things change, the more they say the same. Kerry and Dublin is often described as the dream final. But whose dream?“What we can say is that the two best teams in Ireland have made it through to September and, in the immediate context, there is a really intriguing game of football to look forward to. “But overall, this championship summer has not promised much in terms of other counties breaking through in the years ahead.“All-Ireland final week is funny. It is the high point of the season and so much energy and debate is concentrated on the game and, for the two counties involved, it really is a fantastic time.“Normal life is suspended. But for all other county teams and managers, the next season has already begun.McGuinness also conceded that while his Donegal side had many detractors, he said he set the team up in that way so they could force their way in to challenge in the top tier.“During my time in Donegal, we had our detractors.“That was fine: people are entitled to their opinion. But I’m not sure that they fully understood why we set up as we did. It was in order to get our foot in the door so we could disrupt and challenge the top tier. McGuinness feels Kerry and Dublin are going to continue to dominate Gaelic Football for years to come and think it’s going to get increasingly harder for teams to bridge the gap.“I think that no matter what happens Dublin and Kerry will always field very strong teams. That introduces a sense of inevitability about the future.“The gap seems to be getting bigger. It is very difficult not to see Dublin and Kerry contesting many more All-Ireland finals in the years ahead.“It is so difficult for teams to break that trend. This is a big question for them to ask themselves this winter MCGUINNESS – “DUBLIN AND KERRY ARE GOING DOMINATE GAELIC FOOTBALL FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE” was last modified: September 16th, 2015 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:GAAJim McGuinnessnewsSportlast_img read more

The outlet, operated by existing franchisee Ken Foley, has brought up to 60 new jobs to the area.Overall, an estimated 110 jobs were supported through the construction and staffing of the complex at Drumlonagher, outside Donegal Town. The complex, which began construction last autumn, includes a two-storey Supermac’s Restaurant, drive-thru facility, a retail convenience store, car and HGV fuelling pumps.Supermac’s has over 100 family restaurants across Ireland. Recent expansion has created 400 jobs with six new outlets in 2018.Supermac‘s M.D. Pat McDonagh, said that the new store openings were being driven by customer demand. “The success of our fresh range of fresh, never frozen, beef and chicken has meant that we are opening several new outlets throughout the country to meet customer demand with more planned later in the year,” he said. There will be more excitement at the Donegal Supermac’s outlet in September when it hosts the launch of the Cannonball Supercar Spectacle.
